Monsters and Aliens from George Lucas is a book that contains biographical information for beings and creatures seen in concept art and photos from various Lucasfilm productions (not just the Star Wars saga). As George Lucas notes in the foreword, “I look at this book as a collection of archaeological data—an attempt to show sides of these monsters and aliens rarely seen.”

[edit] Non-canon

  • Leland Chee has indicated that information in this book is non-canon, though a couple of elements have been known to make its way into continuity through other publications.[1]
For example, this book introduced the character Dyslogia Twang, who later reappeared in HoloNet News Vol. 531 53. Po Ruddle Lingsnot, a character from The Illustrated Star Wars Universe, appears to also have been inspired by this book.
  • Canon species mentioned within the non-canon text of the book include: Duros, Gamorreans, Hutts, Ithorians, and the rancor, although the Ithorians are portrayed quite differently than the canon species.
  • The canon world of Endor is also mentioned.
  • The canon character Terak, king of the Sanyassan Marauders, is mentioned by name as a "Known Associate" of "The Marauder of Endor", a fugitive depicted in a non-canon wanted poster.
