The galaxy at large did not even know if Morseerian was the real name of the species because of very limited exposure with them, but for now that is what the species is called, or at least dubbed.
Morseerians were a multi-armed species hailing from the Unknown Regions. Some reports stated that they were a client people of the Drackmarians of Quelii Sector. Unlike most sentinent life, Morseerians breathed methane. Morseerians had semitransparent bodies, except for the head and hands, which bore a dark green or brown coloration. Internal organs were visible through their odd skin. Their elongated heads featured large, black, pupilless eyes, a small nose, and a thin, triangle-shaped mouth.
When found offworld, Morseerians were usually seen in jumpsuits and bearing gas masks that gave them the precious methane they needed to survive. They usually flew ships that supported methane environments, much to the chagrin of their oxygen-breathing counterparts.
[edit] Behind the scenes
In the cantina scene in A New Hope, a Morseerian by the name of Nabrun Leids is sitting at the bar. Although Nabrun is male, the pilot was portrayed by extra Janice Burchette.
During the preproduction process for the cantina scene, Nabrun Leids was referred to as the "Plutonian". According the the "Cantina Roll Call" on StarWars.com, the alien's name was to be Quidultii, a name which likely came from the team calling the character "squid head" (not to be confused with Tessek).
The protective mask worn by Nabrun Leids in A New Hope was actually a British WWII gas mask, known as the Mark IV. Harrison Ford, as Indiana Jones, wears the carrying bag for this mask in several of his movies.
