- "Someone really liked bugs, I guess. I wonder how they'd feel if they knew their art had ended up as a mound of moss."
- ―Zak Arranda, describing a statue in the Sikadian Garden
Mosses were a type of soft,[1] slippery plant.[2] Specific varieties of moss included:
- Adder moss[3]
- Beard-moss[4]
- Fear moss[5]
- Flash Moss
- Forfra moss[6]
- Goblin moss[7]
- Gomex moss[8]
- Hanging moss[9]
- Infectious moss[10]
- Jaddyyk moss[11]
- Megonite moss[12]
- Phosphorescent moss[13]
- Razor moss[14]
- Sloth-moss[15]
- Tendril-moss[16]
- Wood-moss[17]
Moss could cover virtually any surface, growing everywhere from city streets[9] to walls,[18], from rocks[9] to trees,[4] and from forests[15] to spacecraft.[19] It was even known to cover the thoraxes of the Kolosolok race of Killiks.[4] While moss primarily grew in the wild, especially in humid air,[20] it had a variety of uses. The Alderaanian Ob Khaddor produced a moss painting known as Killik Twilight,[21] and some species could eat moss as a last-resort source of sustenance.[2]
