Mulatan was a world[2] located in the Mulatan system, a part of the Bootana Hutta area in the Hutt Space portion of the Slice. It was connected to the Gos Hutta and Sleheyron systems by the hyperlane known as the Pabol Hutta.[1]
Mulatan was a guardian world[2] that served as a gateway into the Bootana Hutta, which contained the throneworlds of the clans of the Hutt species. Mulatan was dedicated to the defense of those worlds,[1] and a number of Hutt warships,[2] a rare sight elsewhere in Hutt Space,[1] always surrounded Mulatan,[2] with outsiders being advised not to linger there.[1] Mulatan was also regularly patrolled by the fleet of Troonol, a commander of the Hutt Qunaalac clan.[2]

Mulatan was first mentioned in The Essential Atlas, a 2009 reference book co-authored by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, which placed it in grid square S-10.[1] It was subsequently described as a world the 2015 roleplaying sourcebook Lords of Nal Hutta, published for use with Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars: Edge of the Empire roleplaying system.[2]
