"It's in the Mustafar system."
"That's Vader's system."
Kawlan Roken and Tala Durith[16]

The Mustafar system was a solar system in the Atravis sector[3] that contained the volcanic planet of Mustafar,[1] its oceanic moon Nur,[7] and two gas giants called Jestefad and Lefrani,[6] all of which orbited the star Priate.[5]

History[]

"I am sending you to the Mustafar system in the Outer Rim."
General Grievous, to the Executive Separatist Council[1]

During the Clone Wars, the Mustafar system was affiliated with the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Mustafar was the final place for refuge for the Executive Separatist Council, who were butchered by the newly-anointed Sith apprentice Darth Vader, whom they had been tricked into trusting by his Sith Master and their supposed ally, Darth Sidious. Afterward, Vader and his former mentor, Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, engaged in a fateful Duel on Mustafar that left Vader horribly injured, forcing the Sith Lord to live within a cybernetic suit.[1]

Darth Vader, dark lord of the Mustafar system

During the Imperial Era, Vader requested control over Mustafar[17] and built Fortress Vader in its Gahenn Plains.[18] The entire system fell under Vader's personal control.[16] Hoping to keep a close eye on his agents, he chose nearby Nur to be the base of operations for the Inquisitorius, a group of Jedi hunters under his command.[7] Vader's control over the Mustafar system was known to the Hidden Path, an underground network dedicated to helping Force-sensitives.[16] During the war against the Sith, the Knights of Ren broke into Fortress Vader, which helped prove to Sidious they faced a determined enemy in what ended up being Crimson Dawn.[19]

In the wake of Vader's death and redemption back into the Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker during the Battle of Endor,[20] Fortress Vader was abandoned. Vader's trapped former servant, Vaneé, remained within, however. After being released,[21] Vaneé conducted a failed ritual he hoped would resurrect Vader. Skywalker's Force spirit ventured to Mustafar and his former castle to help guide Vaneé's captives out of the building.[22]
