Mutates were a type of Sith-spawned mutants engineered by the Sith Lord Malakite. They were used as troops of his realm, the Menagerie. They consisted of a wide variety of sentient species including Humans, Aqualish, and Rodians but were distinguished by their red hue. They were lightly armed and wore a mixture of armor and primitive loinclothes. Members of the Mutates also used primitive pre-industrial weapons, reflecting Malakite's hatred of technology.
Mutates saw action against Odionate forces during first and second battles of Skarpos.
