Neimoidian headgear
From Wookieepedia, the Star Wars wiki.
Neimoidian headgear referred to any hats or helmets worn by members of the Neimoidian species. Because of the commerce-based Neimoidian culture, Neimoidians were obsessed with status and display and would wear elaborate, expensive headgear to serve as easily noticeable symbols of their immense wealth and power. Neimoidians placed great value on their hats for this reason, and would even risk their lives to keep them safe as no Neimoidian would be caught dead without his or her hat. Although a multitude of the headgear worn by Neimoidians was unique, some of them had certain specific meanings within Neimoidian society.

[edit] Examples of Neimoidian headgear
[edit] Miters
- Neimoidian senatorial miter—Worn by Trade Federation Senator Lott Dod prior to the Battle of Naboo, this tall blue miter was capped with a diplomatic ploov that showed Dod's status as a Senator. One of Dod's aides, Mik Regrap, wore a different hat which also had such a ploov.
- Vessel command officer's miter—Worn by Captain Daultay Dofine during the blockade of Naboo, and later by his relative Lushros Dofine, the vessel command officer's miter was a simple dark gray symmetrical cone with a neck-guard in the back and capped with a blunt ploov-like protrusion. Only Neimoidian starship captains wore this style of miter, as its name implies.
- Subordinate's miter—Miter worn by lesser Neimoidians, it was similar to the vessel command officer's miter but not as large or solid-looking, and it fit more snugly on the head. Neimoidian starship controllers such as Tey How and Sil Unch wore this style of miter, as did the crew members of Invisible Hand and the controllers on Mustafar.
- Large, pompous miter—An enormous, inwardly-curving black crown worn by Rune Haako on Geonosis. A similar hat was worn by Gilramos Libkath as well as a Neimoidian on Muunilinst.
- Heritage miter—Resembling a large, swept back pink flower, this style of miter was worn by Rune Haako towards the end of the Clone Wars until his death at the hands of Anakin Skywalker on Mustafar. The name of this miter suggests it had some connection with the wearer's ancestors.
[edit] Headdresses
- Elaborate Neimoidian headdress—Worn by Trade Federation Viceroy Nute Gunray while on Geonosis during the Separatist Crisis, this tiara-like headdress sat branched into three large, spade-shaped plates and sat on the wearer's forehead, held in place by a headband.

- Command headdress—A simple bowl-shaped skullcap framed by a semicircle upturned brim, with a circular indention on the righthand side. This style of headdress was worn by Rute Gunnay on Mustafar, a tan one, while Acting Viceroy Sentepeth Findos wore a nearly identical (albeit pink) command headdress when he signed the treaty with the Galactic Empire.
[edit] Crowns
- Viceroy's crested tiara—Worn by Nute Gunray throughout the blockade and subsequent Battle of Naboo.
[edit] Other
- The large, turban-like miter worn by Viceroy Gunray during the final years of the Clone Wars.
- Attorney's cowl—Worn by Rune Haako during the Naboo debacle, this large, frilled headpiece featured two large, folded faceframes on either side of the wearer's head. The style of hat signified that the wearer was a legal counsel.
- Traditional helmet of Royal Guard—Worn by Neimoidian warriors and commanders alike, the Royal Guard helmet was a segmented helmet designed to protect the back of the wearer's neck as well as his sensitive brow ridge. They came in two colors: bronze for the warriors, and silver for the commanders.
