Niner was the nickname of a clone trooper who served in the Galactic Republic's Grand Army during the Clone Wars. Niner was part of Clone Commander Fil's squad, who accompanied recently promoted Jedi Knight Nahdar Vebb during a mission to the third moon of Vassek in 22 BBY to capture the Trade Federation Viceroy Nute Gunray. Before the group entered a castle belonging to the Confederate General Grievous in search of Gunray, Fil paired Niner with the trooper Bel and ordered both to stay outside and guard the clones' shuttle. After Fil ordered Niner and Bel to contact the Republic fleet for more clone trooper reinforcements, the clones boarded the transport to contact the fleet. However, one of Grievous's MagnaGuards used a missile launcher to destroy the Republic shuttle, killing both Niner and Bel.

Niner was the nickname of a clone trooper[3] who was born on the planet Kamino to serve in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars.[1] In 22 BBY,[2] Niner served under Clone Commander Fil during a mission to the third moon of Vassek. The mission's objective was to capture Trade Federation Viceroy Nute Gunray,[3] who had recently been rescued from Republic captivity.[4]

Niner accompanied recently promoted Jedi Knight Nahdar Vebb, who was leading the mission with Fil. The squad waited for the arrival of Vebb's former Jedi Master, Kit Fisto, before they entered a nearby castle belonging to the Confederate General Grievous, in pursuit of Gunray. Fil paired Niner with trooper Bel and ordered both to stay behind and watch after their Nu-class attack shuttle. After Fisto's astromech droid, R6-H5, tracked Grievous's approaching starfighter, Soulless One, Niner contacted Fisto, who was inside the castle, to alert the group. Eventually, Niner and Bel received a transmission from Fil inside the castle, telling both clone troopers to contact the Republic fleet near the Inner Rim planet of Bestine for more clone trooper reinforcements. Unbeknownst to the clone troopers, one of Grievous's IG-100 MagnaGuards had spotted them. As the clones entered the shuttle to ready the shuttle's long-range transmitter to contact the fleet, the MagnaGuard used a missile launcher to destroy the shuttle, killing Niner and Bel.[3]

As a clone of Jango Fett,[3] Niner stood 1.83 meters tall.[1] He wore standard Phase I clone trooper armor that sported red markings and also used an integrated comlink, which was attached to his right armor bracer.[3]
