"No Good Deed..." is a mini-comic created by Chris Eliopoulos and Jordie Bellaire that was published in Darth Vader (2017) 1.

Summary[]

On Darth Vader's Venator-class Star Destroyer, Lord Vader directed a mouse droid to ready his meditation chamber. Admiral Mummert's report of ships unable to meet the Hortolo system deadline led to Vader's frustration, culminating in a fatal force choke. Following this, a report from an Imperial general indicated the readiness of only 10,000 troops out of the 50,000 ordered to be deployed to the Winnikk System, resulting in the same fate for the general. Meanwhile, Vader's TIE fighter proved irreparable, and the officer reporting the situation was met with Vader's exasperation and another Force-imposed silence.

Despite the setbacks, the mouse droid diligently resumed preparing the meditation chamber. Vader's brief contemplative moment was disrupted when the droid unexpectedly crashed into him, prompting him to swiftly end its existence with his lightsaber. He remarked to himself, "At last," seeking a moment of quiet amidst the turbulent affairs of his flagship.

Continuity[]

In the mini-comic, the third officer is depicted of having 3 grey tiles on their rank insignia plaque. As grey is not a recognised color that correlates to a rank, this article assumes that this is an artistic choice and that the tiles are supposed to represent the color blue.[3]

Notes and references[]

  1. MarvelLogo Darth Vader (2017) #1 on Marvel Comics' official website (backup link)
  2. "No Good Deed..." — Darth Vader (2017) 1 occurs after Anakin Skywalker became Darth Vader, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 19 BBY. The mini-comic also occurs before the events of Lords of the Sith which Timelines dates to 14 BBY as by that time, Vader's flagship is the Perilous, and not his Venator-class seen in this story. As such, the mini-comic must occur in or between these years.
