Nysad was one of Jabba the Hutt's many Kajain'sa'Nikto guards and servants. He was aboard the Khetanna at the Great Pit of Carkoon when Luke Skywalker was to be executed.
Biography
He erupted from a top-opening hatch built into the deck, at the opposing end to the deck-mounted cannon, as the lightsaber wielding Skywalker turned to face him. Nysad managed to fire off one shot, which Skywalker deflected, before slicing Nysad across his chest with his lightsaber. Nysad subsequently fell through the hatch from whence he came.[1]
Behind the scenes
Certain production photos actually show Nysad on set within Jabba's court room standing with Wooof, Geezum and Giran indicating that these three may in fact be present when Han Solo, Luke Skywalker and Chewbacca are sentenced to death.
Hasbro produced an action figure modeled after Nysad (named "Nikto Gunner") in 2009 as part of their Legacy series. The figure came packaged with an anti-personnel laser cannon, but the character never used such a weapon in the film (it was used by a different Nikto, Vizam).
Deciper has used the image of Nysad on the card representing Lathe for the Tatooine Limited set. Lathe was later retconned to be a different character.
