Obsidian was a material which composed part of Darth Vader's armor.

"Obsidian" in the Star Wars universe likely has different properties from earthly obsidian, which is volcanic glass--and could even be chipped with Stone Age tools to create an arrowhead. Another possibility is that the Star Wars "Obsidian" is a brand name for a tougher substance.
