On a number of occasions, officials affiliated with Lucasfilm or its related companies have been known to work and/or participate in the Star Wars fandom.
- Mark Hamill has voiced and made in-jokes to the Luke Skywalker character in many of the films and television shows that he has worked on.
- Peter Sumner, the actor who portrayed Lieutenant Pol Treidum in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, reprised his role in the 1999 fan film The Dark Redemption.
- Carrie Fisher, Ray Park, and Billy Dee Williams played in the 2009 fan film/feature film Fanboys.
- Jeremy Bulloch, Ben Burtt, Jake Lloyd, Daniel Logan, Peter Mayhew, David Prowse, and Steve Sansweet played in the 2007 fan film/documentary Heart of an Empire.
- Peter Mayhew inspired the idea for the fan film The Jedi Hunter.
- Steve Sansweet frequently is involved with fandom as he is Lucasfilm' head of fan relations.
- Gary Kurtz served as a producer on the 2007 fan film/feature film 5-25-77.
- John Knoll served as visual effects consultant on 5-25-77.
- Darth Vader actor David Prowse acted in the fan film Saving Star Wars.
- Jeremy Bulloch will reprise his role as Boba Fett for the 2008 fan film Star Wars: Secrets of the Rebellion.
