Ohwun De Maal, sometimes better known by his aliases Ellorrs Madak and Bringe, was a male Duros that, like the typical member of the race, had natural piloting and navigation skill.

Biography

He was a former scout and freelance instructor, teaching whoever would pay him how to fly starships. He made several runs to important trade worlds such as Celanon, Byblos, and Yaga Minor. Along with his wife, Chachi De Maal, the pair owned several docking bays in Mos Eisley including Docking Bay 27, 43, 67, 71, 86, and 94. They also owned the droid WED-9-M1. Owhun and his wife were both present in Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina during Luke Skywalker's fateful encounter with Han Solo. During Solo's stay on Tatooine, he coincidentally happened to be using Docking Bay 94, owned by the pair. When Solo and his group blasted out of the docking bay past the Galactic Empire, the previous amicable friendship between the Duros and Jabba Desilijic Tiure turned sour.

Ohwun and his wife sometimes worked for the Galactic Empire, and in their line of work, dealing with shady characters on a frequent basis, they made use of several aliases. Among these were Ellorrs Madak and Bringe who were never seen without their partners, Baniss Keeg and Probos, the aliases used by Ohwun's wife. They were also known to have smuggled bacta to the Rebel Alliance in their freighter, Millanti.[2]

Behind the scenes

In the Star Wars Gamer 2 article, The University of Sanbra Guide to Intelligent Life: The Duros, Madak and his partner Keeg were both identified as the two Duros, Owhun De Maal and Chachi De Maal, from Galaxy Guide 7: Mos Eisley that owned the famous Docking Bay 94. The information clarified that Baniss Keeg and Ellorrs Madak were aliases used by the Duros couple. This retcon also identified Ohwun De Maal with the Duros known as Bringe that appeared in the Star Wars Screen Entertainment sourcebook.

In Inside the Worlds of Star Wars Trilogy, the name Ellorrs Madak was spelled "Ellor Madak."

Madak was the No. 1 Fan's Choice Figure for Hasbro's Power of the Jedi line.

Madak and Keeg were called "Goggle-Eyes" on the set of A New Hope before the development of their names later.[3]

In the Masters of the Empire interview with host Jay Laga'aia that took place on the Celebration Stage during Celebration V in August, 2010, it was revealed that, during the cantina scene from A New Hope, Madak and Keeg were both played by Jon Berg. [4]
