Old Republic battle cruiser was a term used to describe some of the largest warship classes in the Galactic Republic Navy, active around 3,000 BBY.^[3]

HistoryEdit

The Invincible-class Dreadnaught Heavy Cruiser was one of these heavy warships. Though not the largest in size, the Invincible-class could outgun any other class in this period. Such battle platforms became obsolete a few decades later, when fleet strategy shifted to smaller cruisers traveling in groups.^[3]

Their legacy became apparent millennia later, when big warships became important to fleet strategy once again in successive wars, reaching its zenith with the Galactic Empire's Super Star Destroyers.^[3]
