The old research facility on Mustafar dated back to the days of the Galactic Republic. It was rumored to be inhabited by strange creatures and aggressive guard droids.

During the Galactic Civil War, the droid known as HK-47 transferred itself to this facility, and employed an individual to activate the facility's power, and then travel to the Droid Factory and re-activate it.
