- ―Roan Shryne and Bol Chatak on Murkhana[src]
Olee Starstone was a female Human Padawan of Jedi Master Bol Chatak in the waning years of the Galactic Republic. Prior to becoming Chatak's apprentice, she was trained by the Jedi librarian Jocasta Nu. She bore a blue lightsaber and was physically fit, but her best skills were as a researcher and historian, like her original Master.
[edit] Biography
Shortly before the Battle of Geonosis in 22 BBY, in an attempt to broaden her horizons, Starstone went on a mission to Eriadu. It was there that she first met Master Bol Chatak. In 21 BBY, at the behest of the Jedi Council, she left Nu to become Chatak's Padawan. The Council felt that the athletic, skilled young Jedi were needed more on the battlefield of the Clone Wars than at the Jedi Temple. Although this seemingly took her from her true calling as a librarian, it spared her from being slain by Darth Vader at the war's end.
Chatak and Starstone were among the six Jedi who traveled to the Battle of Murkhana, one of the Outer Rim Sieges in 19 BBY while the Galactic Republic was searching for General Grievous following his "failed" abduction of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine. Along with Roan Shryne, Chatak and Starstone were spared from Order 66 when a clone commando of Ion Team named Climber saved them from an ambush by Commander Salvo.
The trio deliberately allowed themselves to be captured by the Galactic Empire, albeit disguised as CIS commandos. However, before they could leave Murkhana, they encountered Darth Vader. Chatak was killed while attacking Vader, and almost exposed Starstone as a Jedi as well, but her attack distracted Vader and allowed Starstone and Shryne to escape Imperial custody, with the help of Cash Garrulan.
They eventually rendezvoused with the Drunk Dancer, captained by Shryne's biological mother, Jula. The smugglers' ship's young slicer, Filli Bitters, immediately began flirting with Olee, and Roan was disappointed that she ignored Bitters due to her strict adherence to the Jedi Code.
Starstone, rather than Shryne, took the lead in gathering together survivors of the Great Jedi Purge, contrary to the intentions of Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi. This concentration of Jedi in a single place led to the deaths of Shryne and two other Jedi on Kashyyyk—as well as triggering massive reprisals against the planet's Wookiee natives.
Following the death of Shryne, Starstone realized she could no longer openly live as a Jedi, but should follow the examples of Kenobi and Yoda and escape into anonymity for the time being. Nonetheless, she kept the Jedi ideals alive in her heart, and sought quiet ways to resist the Galactic Empire.
Allowing herself to make attachments, she joined the crew of the Dancer, alongside Chewbacca, searching for the Wookiee slaves taken from Kashyyyk (whose destination, unknown to Chewbacca and Starstone, was the Death Star) and for other survivors of the Jedi Purge.
