Operations Officer was a section chief and command crew position aboard starships, and was responsible for heading the Operations section aboard the vessel. The Operations Officer oversaw the running of the ship with several other sections reporting in to the section chief. Both the Imperial Navy[1] and the Combined Defense Forces of the New Republic[2] used Operations Officers aboard their ships. For the Imperial Navy, the Operations Officer was an officer of at least junior commander rank.[1] They were responsible for communications, navigation and sensor operations. Lieutenant Darryn Thyte served as the Operations Officer aboard the CR90 corvette FarStar during its mission to locate the rogue Imperial warlord, Moff Kentor Sarne.[2]
