- "Baktoid plants on Foundry, Ord Cestus, Telti, Balmorra and Ord Lithone will close by month's end."
- ―HoloNet News Vol. 531 46
Ord Lithone was a planet in the Ord Lithone system, part of the Inner Rim. In the years preceding the Clone Wars, it was the site of a Baktoid Armor Workshop droid manufacturing facility. Baktoid left the planet in 22 BBY, intending to move its factories to the Outer Rim Territories.
Description
Edit
Ord Lithone was located in the Ord Lithone system of the Inner Rim.[1]
History
Edit
The planet was discovered by the Galactic Republic between 15,000 and 8,000 BBY.[3] It derived its name from the Ordnance/Regional Depots, a series of military outposts established by the Republic during the Pius Dea Era, chiefly to protect Human colonists from the perceived threat of other sentient species.[4]
In the years leading up to the Clone Wars, the droid manufacturing corporation Baktoid Armor Workshop maintained a B1 battle droid factory on the world. In 22 BBY, Baktoid shut down its production facilities on several planets, including Ord Lithone. The corporation cited the forced dissolution of its biggest customer—Trade Federation security forces—as well as Republic economic sanctions on the sale of battle droids as the reason for stopping production;[2] in reality, Baktoid simply moved its factories to the Outer Rim Territories.[5] As a direct result of Baktoid's relocation, twelve million employees—including those on Ord Lithone—lost their jobs.[2]
Between 7[6] and 9 ABY, Ord Lithone's general area of space was considered to be under the control of the remnants of the Galactic Empire.[7] By 137 ABY, the world—along with the majority of the galaxy—fell under the zone of control of Darth Krayt's Galactic Empire.[8]
Behind the scenes
Edit
Ord Lithone was first introduced through an article on the HoloNet News website (2002). Information from this article was repeated in the novel The Cestus Deception (2004), as well as in StarWars.com's Databank entry for the Geonosis droid factory. The Essential Atlas (2009) pinpointed Ord Lithone's location.
