An insignificant world, it was once home to Darth Vitus, before its location was lost to the wider galaxy. Vitus experimented with Sith alchemy on the world, creating monsters strong with the dark side. During the age of the Great Sith War, a group of Sith tracked the world down from clues in a holocron, eventually leading them to Darth Vitus's compound.
The Dread Masters, who broke away from the Sith Empire during the Galactic War, were drawn to Oricon due to the dark energies left over by Darth Vitus, and set up their base of operations on the desolate moon. The Empire and their enemies, the Galactic Republic, would attack Oricon and destroy the Dread Masters all except one who lived on.
Though the Dread Master threat was at an end, there was still the matter of the Dread aurora's and terraforming devices that plagued the lands of Oricon. Through this, the planet was, and has since been, outlawed by both the Republic and the Empire, allowing only special-case officials onto the planet to oversee the restoration of the planet, as well as the destruction of the Dread devices. Through this, both factions of the galaxy proclaimed laws that prohibited the study of the Dread Masters, and their ways. Should one be found practicing the principles of the Dread Masters, or showing favor to their cause, they would be faced by the wrath of law.
