The Orixon Nebula was located in the Outer Rim Territories' Phelleem sector. It had formed by 5000 BBY out of the Kashi system, which had been destroyed by a supernova twenty millennia earlier. By 5000 BBY, the nebula was situated within Hutt Space, and by 3643 BBY, the Hutts had declared it off-limits. Around that year, an individual recovered an ancient relic from a derelict starship in the Orixon Nebula.

Description[]

The Orixon Nebula was a part of the Phelleem sector[2] in the Slice portion of[1] the Outer Rim Territories.[2]

History[]

The Orixon Nebula had formed by 5000 BBY from the remains of the Kashi system,[1] which had been destroyed as a result of a sudden and inexplicable supernova explosion[3] at some point by 24,500 BBY.[4] By 5000 BBY, the nebula was situated within the borders of Hutt Space, and it remained so at least until the Great Sith War of 3996 BBY.[1] At some point, a derelict starship carrying a relic from the Great Hyperspace War[5] of 5000 BBY[1] began drifting in the Orixon Nebula.[5]

This section of the article assumes 100% game completion of Star Wars: The Old Republic. Any alternate stories may be noted in the "Behind the scenes" section. The events in this section may or may not have been confirmed as canon within the Star Wars Legends continuity.

Around 3643 BBY,[6] an individual affiliated with one of two conflicting factions of the ongoing struggle between the Galactic Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire learned of a distress signal being received from the vessel drifting in the nebula, which by that time members of the Hutt species had declared off-limits. The individual subsequently sent a companion to negotiate passage into the nebula for a rescue starship. After having bartered with the Hutts for salvage rights, the companion boarded the ancient ship and discovered the relic.[5]

Behind the scenes[]

The Orixon Nebula was first mentioned in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, authored by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, which placed it in grid square S-7.[1] The nebula was later mentioned in a Diplomacy Crew Skill mission of the 2011 BioWare video game Star Wars: The Old Republic, although the information on that mission's outcome was eventually removed from the game.[5]

  6. Per the reasoning here, Act I of Star Wars: The Old Republic takes place around 3643 BBY. Since players of The Old Republic can assign their companions on the mission "Lost in the Mist" independently of the main class storyline at any point during the game, the mission must take place at some point around 3643 BBY.
