Corporal Ortin was a police officer in the employ of the Office of Peace and Security in Gadrin. He was also a member of the Cularin resistance, one of the few who did not disappear from their normal lives to reside in the resistance's base within the Cloud Mountain mines. When Gerta Haman needed to recruit some outsiders for a mission to infiltrate the Metatheran Cartel's operations office, she sent Ortin to gather them and bring them to a hidden room in the OPS third sector precinct house.

Ortin was also in place to assist these outsiders get out of jail should they have been caught breaking and entering the Cartel's offices.
