The Ortolan Merchant was a salesman on the planet Dantooine. After the Rebellion relocated to Hoth following their evacuation of Yavin 4, Princess Leia Organa and Luke Skywalker arrived on Dantooine to secure supplies for the base. The Ortolan Merchant was under strict orders to only sell to those who told him a specific codeword. After Leia flawlessly pulled off the password, the merchant showed Leia his secret stash, consisting of weapons and supplies and helped her to load them onto their shuttle.
