Osaf Hamud was an Old Republic scholar who wrote a document about orbalisks. He came up with the one solution on how to remove the dangerous parasites. His paper, titled An Examination and Exploration of a Most Dangerous and Resilient Organism, was on record in the Jedi Temple. In 990 BBY, the Sith Darth Zannah, disguised as a Jedi, discovered this essay while searching for a solution to how her master, Darth Bane, could remove the orbalisks stuck to his body.
