Owen was the brother of Obi-Wan Kenobi. The famous Jedi Master had vague memories of playing with his brother in his youth before being taken to Coruscant for training. It is recorded that Kenobi might have visited him and the rest of his family occasionally later in his life.

Behind the scenesEdit

Early printings of the novelization of Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi included a fragment identifying an Owen (implied to be Luke Skywalker's adoptive uncle) as Obi-Wan Kenobi's brother. Said brother was later alluded to in the Jedi Apprentice book series. However, Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones revealed Luke's uncle as Anakin Skywalker's step-brother, and gave him the surname Lars, establishing him as someone different from Kenobi's brother. Further mention of Owen was eliminated from later printings of the Return of the Jedi novelization, leaving Obi-Wan's brother as a mostly unexplored character.

Coincidentally, Ewan McGregor's stunt double in the prequel trilogy was Nash Edgerton, brother to Joel Edgerton who plays a young Owen Lars in the prequel.
