Oxygen breathers was a term for species that needed to take in oxygen from the surrounding air for their bodies to work. Such beings, if unable to ensure an adequate oxygen intake,[1] would suffer from hypoxia,[2] becoming unconscious, and eventually dying. Humans were oxygen breathers. On the contrary, non-oxygen breathers[1] included Gand,[3] Kel Dors,[4] Morseerians,[5] and Skakoans.[6]
