The P-100 Salvage Droid was a large model of repulsorlift salvage droid used for retrieving valuable parts from crashed podracers. Using an omnidirectional homing device, the P-100 Salvage Droid located a crashed podracer's distress beacon and deployed a P-100 pick-up droid from its underside to salvage up to 500 kilograms of scrap. If an owner did not claim their parts within two hours, they would either be auctioned or sold, often to Jawas.[1]

Boonta Eve[]
Ten years before the outbreak of the Clone Wars several units of P-100 Salvage Droids were utilized on the Outer Rim planet of Tatooine. These droids were used in the Boonta Eve Classic, a podrace in the settlement of Mos Espa, to retrieve the wreckage of downed podracers so that they could either be retrieved by the owner or sold to Jawas. Eventually the race was won by the human boy Anakin Skywalker, who was betting his freedom from slavery on the race.[2]
