The Pakuuni system contained the planet Pakuuni, which was the primary inhabited planet in the system. It was near the Newland system.
The Pakuuni system was a major haven for both pirates and smugglers around at the time of the Battle of Hoth, which caused galactic trade there to be difficult, some would say dangerous at best. Vice-Admiral Thrawn, however, set up a new installation there from which he restored order to the system. Attempts on the part of both the Rebels and Pakuuni Pirates to stop Thrawn from building the new base failed.
