The viewing box was reserved for the Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic and other politicians of the government, such as the Senior Administrative Aide Sly Moore and the Vice Chair Mas Amedda. Palpatine could also invite other people to sit in the viewing box, such as Senator of Sembla Sweitt Concorkill and Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker.

It was there that Palpatine told Skywalker the story of Darth Plagueis, a story that would contribute to Anakin's fall to the dark side of the Force.
