Imperial family

"Quite surprising. I've certainly never heard any gossip that Emperor Palpatine had a son by a three-eyed alien woman."
―C-3PO[src]

The Imperial Family was a family of Humans nobles[1] all of whom were allegedly related to Emperor Palpatine.

Palpatine's direct line, if indeed there were one, was said to consist of his son, Triclops, and Triclops's son, Ken. Silas Tagge suggested to his elder brother Orman that their sister, Domina marry into the Imperial family when she was old enough.[2]

Triclops may not have been a true biological son of Palpatine, but instead possibly conceived through an biological experiment performed on a woman named Niobi[3]. Triclops himself conceived his own son, Ken, with a former Jedi named Kendalina.

Other relatives of Palpatine included Ederlathh Pallopides, Palpatine's grand-niece, and a certain Volpau, Palpatine's third cousin. Unverifiable rumors dating back decades also placed Sate Pestage as a relation of Palpatine, in some rumors a bastard son[4]; however, Pestage was also known to have had a large extended family of his own.[5]

Following the Battle of Endor, Roganda Ismaren posited her son, Irek, to be the son and heir of Palpatine.[6] However, the boy's true father was Sarcev Quest.[7]

All records of Palpatine's family and upbringing on Naboo vanished long before he became Emperor, and as a result, none of these relations could ever be totally substantiated.

[edit] Behind the scenes

It is unknown whether Palpatine is a family name or a name of state adopted once he entered into politics. A Name of State was adopted by some Naboo politicians when entering into a prestigous office. Padmé Naberrie, a contemporary Naboo, took the formal name of state Amidala, and during her senate career became known as Senator Amidala, conversely her full name became Padmé Amidala Naberrie. Conversely, neither of the Naboo politicans Horace Vancil or Pooja Naberrie (Padmé Amidala's niece) took a name of state when becoming senator to the Imperial Senate. Whether Palpatine is a Name of State or a surname, he still may have had an unrecorded first name, and several fanon works have given Emperor Palpatine's full name as "Cos Palpatine" or "Dantius Palpatine". Following this, his descedants' full names would be "Triclops Palpatine", "Ken Palpatine", et al, but this is unsure. Further complicating matters, if Palpatine is a name of state and not a surname, he may have an unrecorded family name as well.

See the "Name" section of the Palpatine article for more details.
