The Paralysis canister was a type of military ordnance used by the Ssi-ruuvi Imperium during the New Republic era. They were used to pacify the inhabitants of an area to enable the saurian Ssi-ruuk to capture live sentient captives for entechment—an agonizing electronical process which drained the life energies of a living being into a mechanical construct like a droid or starfighter. These paralysis canisters could be dropped from an altitude of 3,000 meters and could cover an area of nearly 9 square kilometers.

During the Bakura Incident in 4 ABY, Admiral Ivpikkis' expeditionary fleet's D'kee-class landing ships were equipped with paralysis canisters. Later, during the second Ssi-ruuvi invasion, Captain Todra Mayn managed to persuade Jag Fel and the other Galactic Alliance/Bakuran pilots to cooperate with the P'w'ecks by claiming that the Imperium planned to drop paralysis canisters on Salis D'aar.
