Particle accelerator tubes were constructed on the first Death Star to channel the flow of energy that would create the superlaser primary beam. There were eight of these tubes on the station, each tube connected to another 8 tubes to channel 64 beams into a single massive laser. The control stations for each tube were located just adjacent to them.
