Pat Proft (born on April 3, 1947 in Columbia Heights, Minnesota) is a comedy writer and actor. He began his career at Dudley Riggs' Brave New Workshop in Minneapolis. In the mid-1970s, he began writing for television and films.

He has written numerous films (many ZAZ projects, as well as The Star Wars Holiday Special), but has only directed one film (Wrongfully Accused), with Leslie Nielsen.
