Payback: The Tale of Dengar

From Wookieepedia, the Star Wars wiki.

Payback: The Tale of Dengar is a short story written by Dave Wolverton and featured in Tales of the Bounty Hunters which was published in December 1996 by Bantam Spectra. As the title suggests, it concerns the backstory of the bounty hunter Dengar.

[edit] Inconsistencies

While Dengar and the other bounty hunters are being debriefed by Darth Vader concerning the capturing of the Rebels while aboard the Executor, the book reads that immediately after Vader was informed by Admiral Firmus Piett that the Millennium Falcon had been sighted coming out of the Hoth Asteroid Field, the bounty hunters listen to Captain Lorth Needa shout orders to the crew of his Star Destroyer. This is inconsistent with the film The Empire Strikes Back, since Needa is the captain of the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer Avenger. Still, it may simply be that a transmission of the happenings on the Avenger's bridge was being broadcast aboard the Executor as it pursued the Falcon.

The story also depicts Boba Fett begging Dengar for his life after his escape from the Sarlacc, while in the book, The Mandalorian Armor, Fett simply regains consciousness and goes about his business. Some argued that Fett begging for his life is not within his character.

After Vader is finished speaking with the assemblage of bounty hunters in the film, Admiral Piett hurriedly reports to him the line, "My Lord, we have them." However, in the book, the line reads differently: "Lord Vader, we have them now!"
