Pelek Baw was the Balawai-controlled capital of Haruun Kal, the sole planet of the Al'Har system, and Jedi Master Mace Windu's homeworld. Pelek Baw was the main metropolitan area on the planet, a stark contrast to its jungles where prospectors and Korunnai roamed free. As of 21 BBY, it had a population of over 400,000, and spanned several kilometers.

It was located on the Korunnal Highland, alongside the Great Downrush and just to the north of Downrush Falls. The city's locations included the Highland Green Washeteria, the Ministry of Justice building, and a spaceport located next to its warehouse district. The city was loyal to the planet's Representative Council.

In 21 BBY Pelek Baw was controlled by the Confederacy of Independent Systems, until Mace Windu traveled there to rescue the rogue Jedi Master Depa Billaba. His mission triggered the Battle of Haruun Kal, upon which the planet, and Pelek Baw with it, changed hands to the Galactic Republic. After the battle, a permanent garrison of Republic clone troopers remained in the city to serve as military police.

The name 'Pelek Baw' possibly means jungle city.
