[edit] History

After the Battle of Endor, the Galactic Empire fragmented into many pieces. One of these pieces, in the Outer Rim, was pulled together by Grand Moff Ardus Kaine, who replaced Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin after his untimely demise aboard the first Death Star.

Kaine used his personal Executor-class Star Dreadnought, Reaper for some none-too-subtle intimidation as a venue to hold talks with representatives of multiple star systems and five major Imperial corporations. The talks were successful, and the Pentastar Alignment was born out of the remains of Oversector Outer.

The Alignment largely maintained an isolationist position, and sought to be on peaceful terms with all parties. This lead to the New Republic reciprocating and largely ignoring the Alignment; although pirates and mercenaries such as the Red Moons continued to harry the Alignment. Peace did not last, and Kaine died during the reborn Emperor's Operation Shadow Hand.

This made it possible in 12 ABY for Admiral Gilad Pellaeon to take over the Alignment; Reaper then became Pellaeon's flagship, and immediately was the direct cause of Pellaeon's victory at the Battle of Orinda, outfighting the New Republic's Super Star Destroyer Lusankya under the command of Wedge Antilles. A year later, with the Adumar and Antemeridian Sectors in their coalition, the Republic launched a fresh assault on the Imperial Remnant, which Pellaeon stopped only at the price of being forced to scuttle Reaper.

[edit] Government and politics

An Empire-in-miniature, the Pentastar Alignment nevertheless differed in organization, as it was administratively split in two: "Order" and "Enforcement". Order comprised the Politorate, Insurrection, Judgment, and Protectorate branches; Enforcement was simply the Pentastar Patrol police force (which would design, along with Kuat Drive Yards and Sienar Fleet Systems, the Enforcer-class picket ship).

[edit] Astrography

The Alignment held the allegiance of hundreds of planets, including the "Velcar Free Commerce Zone" (containing Capza, Entralla, and Bextar) and the worlds Jaemus, Cantras Gola, Gabredor III, Bescane, and Criton's Point. Sullust and its moon Sulon were brought into the Alignment when Jerec swore fealty to Kaine. Other supporters of the Alignment included Dynamic Automata, PowerOn Conglomeration, and Galentro Heavy Works.
