The Peregrine referred to an old Corellian legend, centered around a ghostly figure. This ghost was supposedly that of an old man who had been cursed to wander the world for eternity, never being able to find his home. Han Solo was told this story as a boy and confided to his friend, Lando Calrissian, that it had made him feel "creepy".

General Garm Bel Iblis named his flagship, the Katana fleet Dreadnaught Peregrine, after this legend.
