Phlut Design Systems was a Muunilinst based weapons development firm that took out a large capital investment loan from the InterGalactic Banking Clan to fund a secret battle droid program that it planned to sell to the Trade Federation. This resulted in the IG lancer droid.

When PDS could not meet the terms of the draconian contract, IGBC took over the company, the IG lancer and 99 further plans, not manufactured by PDS, were sold to Holowan Mechanicals. Holowan only made a few of these models, including the IG-72, IG-97, and IG-88, and took the designs one step further with the IG-100 MagnaGuard.
