The Pinnacle Room was a circular chamber with a domed ceiling and walls dominated by massive arched windows located at the highest point of the central spire of the Imperial Palace, formerly the Jedi Temple, on the planet Coruscant.[3] Considered the most sacred Jedi site, it housed the oldest known surviving Jedi texts at the time in a carefully controlled environment,[2] some of which were rumored to date from the Order's founding.[3] Nevertheless, the Jedi High Council held a communal meditation session there on at least one occasion, during the Clone Wars.[4] During the Imperial Era, it was occupied as Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine's seat of power, where it was presumed that Palpatine held court with his second, Darth Vader, and his entourage of courtiers and favor-seekers.[3]

Description[]

"Tint the windows."
"Of course, Your Majesty."
―Darth Sidious and 11-4D[1]

A circular chamber with a domed ceiling and walls dominated by massive arched windows, the Pinnacle Room was located at the highest point of the central spire of the Imperial Palace, formerly the Jedi Temple, on the planet Coruscant.[3] Considered the most sacred Jedi site, it housed the oldest known surviving Jedi texts at the time in a carefully controlled environment,[2] some of which were rumored to date from the Order's founding.[3]

During the Imperial Era, a curved partition defined a separate space that was the Emperor's personal quarters. Prominent in the main area was a large table surrounded by oversized chairs, one of them with a high back and control panels set into the armrests. It was also decorated with artworks and statues, including a slender bronzium statue of Sistros Nevet, positioned to catch the light of Coruscant's sun, some of which have been moved from the Emperor's office in the Imperial Executive Building, including a bas-relief panel depicting an ancient battle scene. A circular balcony above the main level contained tall cases of texts and storage devices.[1]

History[]

Clone Wars[]

"Master Yoda, you are older and wiser than any living Jedi, but this does not mean you are beyond the corruption of the dark side."
―Mace Windu, to Yoda[4]
EpGuide611

Puzzled by a great mystery, Yoda sought the aid of his fellow Masters on the High Council.

While meditating during the end of the war, Yoda heard the voice of Qui-Gon Jinn, who demonstrated his presence by levitating Yoda. The encounter left Yoda distracted during the subsequent Council gathering, leaving them worried about whether the stresses of the war were finally taking its toll on him.[4]

Yoda confessed what happened to the Council, much to their disbelief. They agreed though to meditate with him, to verify his experience. Despite meditating together for an entire day, they were unable to hear anything. Kenobi believed that Yoda was simply under duress due to the war, but Ki-Adi-Mundi expressed worry that Yoda had become susceptible to Sith manipulation.[4]

Imperial Era[]

Meeting with Wilhuff Tarkin[]

"Welcome, Governor Tarkin."
"My lord. I like what you've done with the place."
―Darth Sidious and Wilhuff Tarkin[1]

During Wilhuff Tarkin's meeting with the Emperor, the two discussed the Imperial Senate and the fate of the former Separatist worlds. Tarkin advocated using military force to suppress resistance to the Empire, and let it be known that he favored allowing Separatist worlds back into the Imperial fold, but only after they earned the right to do so. After touching upon the Sentinel Base attack, Tarkin proposed the need for oversector control as a means of lessening dependence on Coruscant by outlying system commanders. Tarkin also reaffirmed his suspicion that the Sentinel Base assailants had somehow overridden the local HoloNet relay station.[1]

Theft of the Carrion Spike[]

"Have you puzzled out what is happening, droid?"
"Yes, Your Majesty."
―Darth Sidious and 11-4D[1]

After being briefed about the theft of the Carrion Spike, Vice Admiral Rancit suggested that the ship's thieves were the same people who attacked Sentinel Base earlier. In response, the Emperor ordered Rancit to divert Imperial forces in the Belderone system to aid Tarkin and Lord Vader.[1]

While Tarkin and Vader pursued the insurgents, the Emperor chaired another meeting of the Joint Chiefs. A protocol droid 11-4D plugged one of its appendages into an interface socket that routed holofeeds to the summit from the former Jedi communications suite. The droid also complied with the Emperor's orders to tint the windows. The intelligence officers had asked for an audience in the Imperial Palace, but Sidious had turned them down. Similarly he had declined to attend their meeting virtually, and had dispatched Mas Amedda and Ars Dangor in his stead.[1]

During the meeting, Rancit advocated diverting more Imperial forces to reinforcing Imperial facilities across the Perlemian Trade Route and Hydian Way. The Council also learned that Teller' insurgents had attacked the TaggeCo mining facilities on Lucazec and were transmitting holovids of their attacks on the HoloNet. When the Emperor asked 11-4D if the droid puzzled out what was happening, 11-4D confirmed the affirmative and reported that the holovid was being transmitted by the Carrion Spike. In response, Sidious dispatched reinforcements to aid Tarkin and Vader, including one of the latter's black Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptors.[1]

Berch Teller's insurgency[]

While Tarkin led Imperial forces against Teller's insurgents in a space battle near the Gulf of Tatooine, Darth Sidious mediated on his quest for galactic dominance. Following the defeat of Teller's insurgency, Tarkin and Vader spent the next three weeks hunting down Teller's collaborators and contacts in a ruthless crackdown. The two briefed the Emperor, who appointed Tarkin as Grand Moff and Governor of the Outer Rim Territories. The Emperor also reshuffled the Ruling Council in the wake of Rancit's execution. He also folded Naval Intelligence back into Imperial Intelligence.[1]
