Pir Cuvin was one of Ghez Hokan's lieutenants, and one of the few who survived Hokan's initial "lay offs." However, later on Lieutenant Cuvin "didn't make captain." At some point he disappeared from his post, which was presumed by Hokan to be a desertion. He ordered his troops to kill him on sight; when the Umbaran was found, he was quickly executed.
