Plasma eels were bioengineered grenades carried by Yuuzhan Vong strike teams.

Like the amphistaff, a plasma eel was long and flexible enough, allowing it to coil around its user's waist when not in use. When uncoiled and thrown, the eel became rigid like a spear, and its head glowed with growing plasma energy.

In flight, a plasma eel vented excess energy through its tail, adding additional thrust. Upon impact, the plasma exploded with the force of a thermal detonator.
