"Back off! This is a legal operation."
―The mine operator to Gavyn Sykes[2]

This mining camp owned by Borvo the Hutt was used to mine plasma during the time of the invasion of the planet Naboo in 32 BBY. The base was attacked by the Trade Federation Droid Army during the invasion. The camp was protected by Lieutenant Gavyn Sykes of Bravo Flight. Sykes then contacted the mine operator to ask for information regarding Captain Kael but was rebuffed. The remaining laser cannons fired on Sykes, who retaliated by destroying the camp.

Characteristics[]

The camp, owned by Borvo the Hutt, consisted of three plasma miners, laser turrets, and a control room. The mine also featured a central hub which could strengthen deflector shields. The area surrounding the hub had been stripped bare.[2]

History[]

BFN mining camp attack

Sykes engaging the Armored Assault Tanks.

This camp was in operation to mine plasma when the Trade Federation invaded Naboo in 32 BBY.[1] The Federation sent Armored Assault Tanks to destroy the camp. A ship resembling the Hutt smuggler Borvo's personal transport left the scene during the skirmish. Lieutenant Gavyn Sykes of Bravo Flight was in the area at the same time in a Flash speeder searching for his downed flight lead, Captain Kael. Sykes received a distress call from the camp and engaged the tanks, destroying them. Upon contacting the mine operator to ask for information, Sykes received a hostile response. The operator's words did not deter Sykes, and after giving a final warning, the operator ordered his remaining defenses to engage the Naboo pilot. Sykes retaliated by destroying the camp.[2] At the time of its destruction, the base served as a plasma shipping site for the Trade Federation.[3]

Behind the scenes[]

This mining camp appears in a mission from the 2000 video game Star Wars: Episode I: Battle for Naboo. It is necessary to destroy the camp to continue during the mission, but it is not necessary to drive through the central hub and receive a shield boost. The Flash speeder is the default craft for the mission. The camp was mentioned in the 2011 magazine Star Wars: The Official Starships & Vehicles Collection 62 and James Luceno's 2012 short story, "End Game."
