Plyridian fever was a disease that was often fatal if not properly diagnosed and treated. It had an incubation period of about four weeks; any being discovered to have the initial symptoms of the disease had to be quarantined for up to four weeks to determine whether or not this particular disease was the cause of the patient's symptoms.
