Polus was an ice planet orbiting the binary star Avindia. It was in the Outer Rim. Blizzards and ice storms would frequently scour the planet's surface. Its average day temperature was 50 degrees below freezing. It was the homeworld of the Pyn'gani.
Due to the extreme temperature, Pyn'gani cities were linked to a number of heat generators to help protect them from the freezing environment. There was a warm season however, when both of Polus' suns shed heat on it at the same time. The planet had a single large ocean with a frozen surface and large supplies of carbonite and metal. Mining these materials gave Polus a high credit value.
From 995 BBY to 990 BBY, Jedi Master Anno Wen-Chii and his Padawan, Nalia Adollu, were stationed on the planet.
