Polygamy was the act of having more than one spouse at a time. Because of the low male birthrate among Cereans, it was a generally accepted practice on Cerea. Even Jedi Master Ki-Adi-Mundi was allowed to have multiple wives, despite the Jedi Order's tenets that forbade any emotional attachment. He was known to have had four wives, two of which were known as Shea and Mawin.

Polygamy was also practiced by the Kaleesh.

Polygamy was referenced in Labyrinth of Evil and Star Wars: Republic: Prelude to Rebellion. It was first canonically identified as "polygamy" in The New Essential Guide to Alien Species.
