A power lance was a cheaper variant of energy lance that lacked the latter's ability to fire plasme bolts. Like the energy lance, it's main purpose was use in mounted combat, but while energy lance functioned underwater, power lance was designed for troopers on speeder bikes. The power lance was primarily an anti-vehicle weapon, but was more than effective against unsuspecting infantry. When applied at a sufficient speed, the lance head would bury itself deep in its victim's circuitry and overheat it, thus disabling or, in some cases, destroying the target.

Power lances were used by both clone lancer troopers and IG lancer droids during the Battle of Muunilinst. Durge also wielded one such lance during the battle. The Serpent Masters of Ophideraan used power lances that fired disruptor rays.
