[edit] Characteristics
A Procurator's reactor was large enough relative to the rest of the ship, to be visible from outside the hull. It protruded with a ventral bulb, similar to that of later Star Destroyer classes. Despite being a heavy warship, the Procurator-class was only equipped with a limited hyperdrive, which prevented it from long distance, transgalactic travel.[5]
The class was larger than contemporary Star Destroyers and heavy cruisers.[3]
[edit] History
After the Battle of Rendili, Kuat sectorial fleet Procurators became part of the Republic Navy, as all home fleets were forced to become part of the greater Republic military, in a centralization effort spearheaded by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine.[6]
[edit] Behind the scenes
Its name bore several meanings, including "a viceroy; under the Roman Empire, a financial agent or under-governor."[7]
