Prost was an Imperial Navy officer and a Captain of a Victory II-class Star Destroyer. Prost's task force found itself reacting to a rapidly strengthening New Republic, but also a Corporate Sector Authority fleet under Baruche Sloane exploiting the chaos to expand their influence in the Kalinda system in the turbulent times after Emperor Palpatine's death.
