- "Qillura is technically neutral. Unfortunately, its neutral status is likely due to end very soon."
- ―Jedi General Arligan Zey
The Qiilura system was a star system located in the Qiilura sector,[2] within the region of the galaxy known as the Mid Rim.[1] Orbiting a single star, the Qiilura system contained the eponymous agricultural world of Qiilura, and was situated along the Entralla Route and Celanon Spur hyperlanes.[3]
At the start of the galaxy-spanning Clone Wars, waged between the clone armies of the Galactic Republic and the droid forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Qiilura and its system were under the control of exploitative Neimoidian traders. In the aftermath of a Republic special forces mission to capture a Confederacy scientist on Qiilura,[3] the Qiilura system became host to a Republic military presence that was eventually forced to evict and resettle the planet's Human colonists elsewhere, in accordance with a deal that had been struck with the indigenous gurlanins. Though many colonists complied peacefully, hostilities eventually broke out on the agriworld's surface between resisting farmers and the Republic clone troopers meant to oversee the evacuation.[4] The Confederacy later attempted to annex the Qiilura system, though a Republic fleet bearing the forces[5] of Clone Commander Wolffe's 104th Battalion[6] was dispatched to intervene.[5]
Following the Republic's transformation into the Galactic Empire, the Qiilura system fell under Imperial control. Years later, when the extragalactic species known as the Yuuzhan Vong invaded the galaxy, Qiilura and surrounding space was claimed as part of the Yuuzhan Vong's territory.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
- "A Jedi transport, on a mission to block Separatist annexation of the Qiilura system, is waylaid to provide desperately needed humanitarian relief to the people on the surface of Aleen..."
- ―Opening narration for "Mercy Mission"
The Qiilura system made its first appearance in the Star Wars universe in the Republic Commando novel Hard Contact, written by author Karen Traviss and published October 26, 2004. It later received another mention, albeit an indirect one, in Traviss' second sequel to Hard Contact, entitled True Colors, published three years later on October 30, 2007. In 2011, during the opening narration for the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series' fourth season episode "Mercy Mission," the Qiilura system was mentioned yet again.
