Qual

Qual was a male Selkath Jedi Master from Manaan. He was a member of the Dantooine Enclave Council during the Great Hunt, but either left the Council or died at some point before the Padawan Massacre of Taris.

Qual is the German word for torment, not quite a good name for a member of the Jedi Council and possibly a coincidence by the creators of the character. Maybe his name was derived from the German word "Qualle" (and just only used the first syllable), which means jellyfish in German. At least it would fit more his aquatic nature.
