A queen was the female ruler of a monarchy. The male equivalent was a king.
History
On Naboo, the queen ruled the planet as an elected leader.[9] Yram,[15] Padmé Amidala,[9] Jamillia,[3] Neeyutnee,[8] Apailana,[1] and Sosha Soruna[10] all served as Queen of Naboo.
Several other worlds, such as Alderaan,[2] Bardotta,[4] Ktath'atn,[12] and Zygerria, also had some form of monarchy ruled by a queen.[7]
During the Clone Wars, Zygerria and its slave empire were ruled by Queen Miraj Scintel,[7] until she was killed by Count Dooku,[16] and Queen Julia reigned over Bardotta.[4]
Breha Organa was the Queen of Alderaan, until the planet's destruction by the Galactic Empire's Death Star during the Galactic Civil War.[2]
The Geonosians also had queens, including Karina the Great who served as the secret leader of the Stalgasin hive.[5]
Princess Trios of Shu-Torun became the new monarch of her homeworld shortly after her father was murdered by Darth Vader's assassin droids, BT-1 and 0-0-0.[11]
Some female individuals of the Yalvik species were recognized as queens. During an insurrection on Yalvik Prime, a clone commando squad known as Clone Force 99 met one of these queens, whose stinger was cut off by a soldier named Wrecker. The stinger of a Yalvik queen was considered by some people as a delicacy.[13]
